Commission International's Dove FC (Involving both Ladies and Gents outreach football team). Its a lot of fun, crowd pulling, edutaining, interactive, ice-breaking and most of all soul winning.
Sports outreach is a wing of Commission International through which the
lost and the hurting are reached through the art of sports and games.
It is a powerful tool of interaction and entertainment through which
souls are caught at their interest. It brings people together in many
ways as different individuals discover their potentials and abilities.
It sets a platform for people to develop their talents. Many people
actually use sports as a survival mean for their lives.
In 2007, the “Dove Football Club” outreach was introduced and has been
rising to heights ever since. “Dove one” football team for the men and
the ladies is one of the most powerful crew for the sports wing. Other
interesting actives include athletics, volleyball, basketball and many
indoor games.
The sports outreach promotes evangelism, fitness, friendship, unity, cooperation. Sport is one of the leading activities that bring people of all classes, religions and races together. A sports ground where all these activities will be carried out will be constructed around the mission center.
It is believed that 60% of the young people of the young people are involved in sports. The youth are the key and target group as far as sports is concerned. Each time these young people are idle, they are bound to be involved in bad behaviors. However, each time they are occupied in activities, they keep active and occupied as their young talents are being tapped.
In March 2008, Commission International organized a powerful mission to Amuru district in Northern Uganda. During the mission, the sports team was involved with a lot of participants. Many men and women took part in athletics and football where the Dove teams participated too. Many people were reached through these activities as many gathered along the roads to watch the athletes and others settled down to enjoy the football matches. A number of friendly matches were organized with the local people and the UPDF (Army) for the ladies.
Each evening, the crowds gathered in big numbers to see the winners receive their prices. At such gatherings, the gospel would be preached and many lives transformed towards the values of Jesus Christ.
The sports team needs items like nets, balls, Jerseys, snickers, Training suits, First Aid kits, Sports van and many other things. A plan is in place to construct a sports ground for the team just around the mission center where as many people as possible can be involved in different games and at the same time having their leisure time.
